Condition: Sore Throat •  Wind-Heat
Treatment: Clear Wind Heat from the throat.
Description: More severe fever than aversion to cold, headache and cough accompanied by redness, swelling and pain in the throat, red tongue proper with thin yellow coating and floating rapid pulse, headache.
Comment: Points are mainly from the Lung and Large Intestine Meridians. Add GV14 with high fever, LU7 and CV22 with cough.

Point Selection:
GB20 • Feng Chi • At the posterior head, at the junction of the occipital and nuchal regions, in the depression between the origins of Sternocleidomastoid and Trapezius muscles.
Wind Pool. Meeting Point on Gall Bladder Channel with the Triple Energizer Channel, Yang Linking and Yang Motility Vessels.
Explanation: Disperse Wind Heat

LI11 • Qu Chi • On the lateral side of the cubital crease when the elbow is close to full flexion.
Pool at the Bend. He Sea Point on the Large Intestine Channel. Earth Point on Metal Meridian.
Explanation: Disperse Wind Heat

LI4 • He Gu • On the dorsum of the hand, approximately at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone, in the belly of the first interosseus dorsalis muscle.
Contraindication: Do Not Needle If Pregnancy is known or suspected
Union Valley. Yuan Source Point on the Large Intestine Channel. Command Point of the Face and Mouth.
Explanation: Disperse Wind Heat, will cause sweating.

LU11 • Shao Shang • On the radial side of the thenar eminence, 0.1 cun posterior to the nailbed.
Lesser Merchant. Jing Well Point on the Lung Channel. Wood Point on Metal Meridian.
Explanation: Clear Lung Heat, stops sore throat.
